The world’s largest 3D printer prints a residential building in less than 4 days
05.05.24
The University of Maine has unveiled a world-record-breaking 3D printer called the “Factory of the Future” that promises to revolutionize the construction industry. This printer is capable of printing objects measuring 96 x 32 x 18 feet at speeds of up to 500 pounds per hour.
According to university officials, it can switch between different printing technologies, including additive and subtractive manufacturing, as well as the use of manual methods and continuous tape application.
One of the most important advantages of this technology is the ability to print complete housing in less than 80 hours, and all materials used in printing can be recycled, which significantly reduces the amount of waste in construction.
Additionally, engineers plan to apply this technology to the production of vehicles, including submarines and warships, thereby expanding national security capabilities.
