Disney has announced the release date of another series from the Star Wars universe called Acolyte, showing the first official trailer. The meaning of the word acolyte is an inseparable companion, helper.
The series will be released on the streaming service on June 4 this year. There will be 8 episodes in total.
The Acolyte is set in the final years of the Golden Age of the Republic in a “galaxy of dark mysteries and the growing power of the dark side”, approximately 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999). A young woman, formerly a Padawan, and her Jedi mentor begin investigating a series of crimes and encounter forces that turn out to be darker than they could have imagined.
The series is directed by Lesley Headland, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jeff F. King. ).
