Elon Musk, who owns Twitter, now called X, has announced a plan to hide the number of likes, retweets and favorites on his social network’s main feed. The change, he said, is intended to make the feed “cleaner.”

The news was announced by DogeDesigner, an active X user and Musk ally. DogeDesigner reported that users will soon be required to click on a post to see these metrics. Musk confirmed the plan in a response, saying that only views would be shown.

Musk also said that the view counter, the only visible part of the metrics in posts, will be moved to the top right corner of the post next to the time of publication. To interact with a post in this new design, users will have to swipe right to reply or left to favorite.

Initial reactions from users indicate that most of them are not fans of Musk’s idea. Some indicated that the change would lead to decreased engagement on the platform, while others complained that it would make it harder for people to show their disagreement by commenting (usually with insults) or quoting the original post.

Either way, this change seems to be generating a lot of interest and discussion among users, and it will be interesting to see how it affects the future development of the X platform.
