RED Weapon camera with new MONSTRO 8K VV sensor will cost $80,000
09.10.17
RED cameras are widely used in the video and film industry. These devices typically feature very advanced features and are intended for professional use.
The company has prepared a new MONSTRO 8K VV unit for RED Weapon cameras. This block contains a light-receiving matrix (sensor) with the corresponding electronic-computer wiring.
The MONSTRO 8K VV sensor can be considered a step forward compared to the previous DRAGON 8K VV device. It claims improved image quality, an even wider dynamic range (up to 17 steps), and better detail in the shadows.
The MONSTRO 8K VV sensor has a resolution of 35 megapixels. with physical dimensions of 41×21.6 mm.

A camera with this sensor is capable of recording 8K video at 60 fps (75 fps in 8K 2.4:1 mode), and 4K video at 120 fps.
Data flow during recording can reach 300 MB/s. Attention: the data is not given in megabits per second, as is usually indicated in cameras, but in megabytes per second!
RED Weapon can record video simultaneously in REDCODE RAW and Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD/HR formats.
The RED Weapon camera with MONSTRO 8K VV unit costs about $80,000.
If you already own a RED Weapon camera, upgrading your device with the new MONSTRO 8K VV unit will cost $30,000.
