Qimini Deuce: backup battery with wireless charging

The Qimini Deuce uses the Qi standard. In a nutshell, let’s recall the principle of operation of this system. The basic charger consists of an induction coil that creates an electromagnetic field when the alternating current is applied. In the receiving gadget there is a similar coil capable of capturing this field, converting the received energy into direct current, which is used to charge the battery.

The Qimini Deuce device can be connected to a computer using a USB interface or to an AC network via an adapter. The wireless charging process is claimed to be as fast as wired charging.

Qimini Deuce also allows you to fill the energy reserve of the gadget far from the power grid. For this, there is a built-in lithium-ion backup battery with a capacity of 2000 mAh. This is enough to recharge the battery of smartphones such as Galaxy S4/S5, Nexus 5 and Lumia 930 by about 45-50%. The Qimini Deuce charging process takes two hours.

The novelty has a round shape: the diameter is 95 mm, the thickness is 14 mm. The device weighs 110 g. The length of the built-in USB cable is 230 mm.

The authors of the Qimini Deuce project expect to raise approximately $35,000 (40,000 Australian dollars) through Kickstarter. About $5,000 has been received so far, and the project will be funded for almost four more weeks. The price of Qimini Deuce – from $ 53; deliveries will begin in February 2015.
