Nokia released an AI model for manufacturing to compensate shortage of skilled workers
21.02.24
Finnish technology giant Nokia has launched MX Workmate, an artificial intelligence tool designed to improve the productivity and safety of workers in the industrial sector. MX Workmate uses artificial intelligence to analyze data in real-time and provide recommendations to optimize workflows.
The main goal of MX Workmate is to bridge the communication gap between industrial workers and operational technology systems. The tool generates human-like messages based on real-time data using generative AI and large-scale language models (LLM). These messages may include warnings about equipment malfunctions, suggestions for improving quality and production rates, and instructions for eliminating emergency situations in production.
Nokia plans to implement MX Workmate within a year and a half after extensive testing and refinement to ensure maximum efficiency and meet the needs of industrial enterprises.
The announcement of MX Workmate comes at a time when industry around the world is facing a shortage of skilled labor. According to a survey by Korn Ferry, the shortage of skilled technical workers is projected to reach 85 million worldwide by 2030, leading to significant potential income losses. MX Workmate presents itself as a solution to this challenge, supporting existing workers while optimizing productivity and safety in industrial environments.
Nokia plans to showcase MX Workmate for the first time at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, MWC, where industry experts and stakeholders will be able to see first-hand the capabilities of this AI tool.
