Microsoft Edge will get AI search from website browsing history

Microsoft has started testing a new feature in the Edge browser – “enhanced search” from browsing history, which uses a local artificial intelligence model. It helps find previously visited pages even when errors are made in the query or synonyms are used, which is especially useful if the user does not remember the exact name of the site.
How it works
The feature is already available in beta versions of Edge. Once activated, it allows you to quickly find the desired pages by approximate wording. Data processing takes place on the device, and, as Microsoft emphasizes, no information is sent to servers.
This distinguishes the new feature from the recently introduced Recall for Copilot Plus PC. There, the system saves screenshots and tracks all user actions, while in Edge, artificial intelligence works only with the browser history.
New Media Player
In addition to improved search, Microsoft is also testing a new media center – a control panel for audio and video content in the browser. It allows you to switch tracks, pause and control the volume from one place – regardless of which site the media is playing on. The picture-in-picture mode has also been updated with convenient controls on top of other tabs.
As a reminder, Microsoft is also experimenting with a new Start menu in Windows 11, adding scrolling, two display modes and more flexible settings.
Both features in Edge are still in the testing phase and will become available to a wider audience later, after analyzing user feedback.
