Kyivstar, Vodafone and lifecell are plan to buy new licenses for 4G in the 2.3 GHz range
17.02.24
“Kyivstar”, Vodafone Ukraine and lifecell have expressed interest in acquiring licenses for an additional 4G frequency range, namely 2.3 GHz, where there is 40 MHz of free spectrum.
Based on the demand analysis, the regulator – NKRZI will propose to the Cabinet of Ministers to approve the amount of the license fee under the terms of the auction for each of the bands, including 2.1 GHz and 2.6 GHz, which are also under consideration.
The nominal price for 1 MHz in the range of 2355-2400 MHz is currently 985 thousand hryvnias in each region. Taking into account the size of the band of 40 MHz and the presence of 27 regions, the cost of a license for 5 five years exceeds 1 billion hryvnias.
In addition, there is one application for the 26 GHz band. “Cable TV Finance”, a subsidiary of Vodafone Ukraine, invited NKRZI to cancel its license for the outdated technology “Multi-service radio access” in the range of 2575-2610 MHz and issue a new license in the same range for the development of modern mobile communication technologies. In case of excess demand for this range, a tender will also be held with one application.
Until February 15, the regulator accepted applications for interest in frequencies in the 2.1 GHz range, which previously belonged to the 3G operator “Trimob”.
