The Chinese have introduced the world’s first OLED monitor with a frequency of 720 Hz
13.06.25
Super Display Company (SDC) has announced the Flash-Speed 540-Meta gaming OLED monitor, which became the first OLED display with an extreme refresh rate of up to 720 Hz. The device is aimed at the esports audience and is currently sold only in the Chinese and Japanese markets.
The novelty is built on the fourth generation of LG Display OLED panels with Primary RGB Tandem technology, which provides high brightness and reliability. The monitor has a diagonal of 26.5 inches, a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a response time of 0.03 ms, which makes it one of the fastest in its class.
In normal mode, the monitor operates at 540 Hz, but for esports events a special mode with a frequency of 720 Hz is provided. The panel brightness reaches 1500 nits at peak and 335 nits at uniform illumination. The color coverage is 99.5% DCI-P3, there is HDR TB 500 certification, and the static contrast ratio is an impressive 1,500,000:1. The panel is also equipped with an anti-glare coating with a reflection coefficient of only 2%.
However, despite the advanced matrix, the connectors remained relatively modest: only DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1, which potentially limits the full implementation of the capabilities at 1440p and 720 Hz. This may require DSC compression or advanced timing settings.
Users have already noted that achieving a stable 720 frames per second at 1440p in modern games is very difficult. This makes the Flash-Speed 540-Meta a demonstration of engineering capabilities rather than a mass solution. The main audience is professional players and eSports enthusiasts, especially in genres with minimal graphic load like CS2 or Valorant.
Interestingly, a year ago, LCD monitors with a frequency of 1000 Hz appeared, but now SDC is betting on OLED technology, offering a combination of speed and image quality.
The SDC Flash-Speed 540-Meta costs about 150,000 yen, or about $1,000. Sales are limited to the Asian market, and there is no word yet on global distribution.
