Google is developing support for NFC Wireless Charging (WLC) in Android 15, which will require significantly less space than Qi wireless charging.
This development will also open up new possibilities for charging small devices that were previously incompatible with the Qi standard. NFC Wireless Charging uses much smaller antennas than Qi.
WLC antennas can be less than 1 cm in size and packaged on a flexible, curved circuit board, allowing them to be integrated into very small smart devices such as headphones, styluses, smart watches and trackers.
This could be a game-changer and could see a plethora of accessories come to market that support NFC Wireless Charging technology.
